Potty manners, Please!
I like outdoor activities and traveling is one of them. Before we’re going to do those outdoor activities (traveling, hiking, cave exploring, rock climbing, picnic, camping, etc), we usually pack our belongings first. But the question is, do you ever think to bring something that related to your bowel movement’ need? How will you defecate in that place? When there is toilet in your destination place, then it’s fine. But what if there isn’t?
I found a disgusting phenomenon when i was hiking in a mountain. There are mountains which are used as a tourists destination, and there are also mountains which are only visited by certain people. This phenomenon often occurs in the mountain which is used as tourist attractions. The disgusting part is, there is a lot of human poop on the hiking track, Eww 
. I know that’s an urgent needs, but can’t people do that in a hidden place?
Here is my tip for solving this problem, i used to be taught about outdoors defecating like this:
- Before you go, make sure that you bring machete and wet wipes in your backpack, and make sure you put it in an easy access place in your backpack.
- When you need to defecate, just take the machete and wet wipes, then go and search a hidden spot in the forest. Not on the trail or hiking track.
- Machete is used to dig a hole for the poop and wet wipes is used for cleaning up.
- When you’re finished, cover the hole with soil.
- Done, simple isn’t it?
I know it sounds like a cat way of pooping, but it really works. Look, there is no more poop on the hiking tracks, and of course it’s clean, free from stinks and other diseases. Your outdoor activities is more fun that way.
Oh yeah, i almost forget about one important thing. In your way to the top of mountain, sometimes you’ll find a river. I just wanna say this, “No Pooping Allowed in the River!!!” Why?! It’s just about ethics, in our way of hiking, there is a time when we need clean water for cooking or drinking, and river is one of the natural source of clean water. When it’s polluted, then it’s not save to consume anymore.
That’s a classic way to overcome the pooping problem. What if there is no place to dig a hole? What if my travel destination is in a civilization instead of forest?
