I got very interesting experience here in Oudtshoorn. I never thought i could ride an ostrich before, but here, that challenge awaits me. Yes, we can ride it. There’s some kind of arena that specifically used to ride an ostrich. You don’t have to worry about safety, the guard/guide/farmer is very welcome and friendly, they always stand by and never let us thrown away by those ostrich. For me, ostrich is one of the most wonderful creature. Their eggs have a powerful defense mechanism. The eggs won’t be crashed although you suppress it with your power. Even if you step on it with both of your feet, the eggs stand still. Well of course it will be crashed if you smash it with a brute strength or cut it with sharp-edges-thingy. Believe it or not, this picture will show you how tough their eggs are.
Look at this picture below, the baby ostrich is so cute, the feather also looks great when it’s underdeveloped. Colors of their heads just like cheetah, that’s cool.

After farm touring, it’s time for us to take a break. We went to the restaurant at those farm, and guess what! They served us plateful of ostrich meat and also ostrich scrambled egg, WOW! that was also my first time. Well, i can’t tell what’s the difference between ostrich scrambled egg with other egg, but i can tell the difference between ostrich meat and chicken. The ostrich meat is darker and of course thicker than chicken. Both are yummy for my tummy, but still, that’s my first time eating an ostrich meat, so there’s some kind of curious sensation in my mind, hahaa…
They also served red and white wine to keep us warm, here’s the picture:
The fun fact that i found from the farmer about ostrich is, they almost eat anything. The farmer found many kind of things in ostrich’s tummy such as shoe, stone, bottle, plastic bag, and even a sheet. Wooow! Maybe those things are helpful for ostrich’s digestion.
